Stop in on your way to the mountains and the lakes. At Southern Appalachian Outdoors we are committed to helping you get outdoors on your adventure. We provide information, clothing and gear with courtesy, professionalism and a pleasant shopping atmosphere.Nestled in the foothills with us are 5 beautiful state parks and hundreds of miles of hiking trails, including the famous 77- mile long Foothills Trail. In addition, there are miles of productive trout streams to fish. South Carolina DNR, with some help from Trout Unlimited, stock many streams here in the mountains. Pickens and the city of Easley recently converted the old railroad tracks into a newly paved trail to walk, run or ride bicycles to and from each city. This trail is called the Doodle Trail. Pickens also has a professionally built BMX off- road bike course here in town.
